Sound & Scent at NEOM Leeds: Where Sound Healing Meets Aromatherapy

There is something incredibly powerful about giving more than one of the senses permission to slow down at the same time. That is exactly what inspired Sound & Scent, our collaboration with NEOM in Leeds city centre.

Set inside the beautiful NEOM store, Sound & Scent brings together the immersive experience of sound healing with the aromas of essential oils, creating an experience dedicated entirely to slowing down, switching off and engaging the senses.

Guests are invited to settle into the space for a 40-minute Synergy sound bath, surrounded by NEOM’s signature scents, before enjoying a private shopping experience once the store has closed to the public.

Why sound and scent complement each other so beautifully

Sound and scent are very different sensory experiences, but they have something lovely in common. Both can draw our attention away from the constant stream of thoughts, screens and to-do lists and bring us back into the present moment.

During a sound bath, there is no expectation to meditate in a particular way or concentrate on clearing your mind. You simply get comfortable and listen.

The changing tones and vibrations of singing bowls, gongs, chimes and other therapeutic instruments give the mind something gentle to follow, allowing the experience to unfold without needing to actively do anything.

Scent adds another sensory layer.

Our sense of smell has particularly strong connections with the parts of the brain involved in memory and emotion. It is why a familiar fragrance can transport us so quickly back to a particular person, place or moment.

Essential oils have also been used for centuries as part of rituals surrounding rest, wellbeing and self-care. Different aromas can feel uplifting, grounding, comforting or soothing, and our response to fragrance is wonderfully personal.

Bringing scent and sound together creates an immersive environment that engages more than one sense at once.

You can simply lie back, listen, breathe and experience it.

Creating a ritual for rest

One of the things we love most about sound healing is the pause it creates.

For the duration of a sound bath, there is nowhere else you need to be and nothing you need to achieve.

Adding scent can deepen that sense of ritual. We use sensory cues throughout everyday life without necessarily realising it. The smell of coffee can signal the beginning of the morning. A particular perfume can remind us instantly of someone we love. The scent of freshly washed bedding can make a room feel calm and inviting.

When fragrance is paired intentionally with sound, it becomes part of the atmosphere and memory of the experience.

The intention isn't to promise a particular outcome. It is simply to create the conditions for people to slow down, settle and enjoy a moment that feels completely removed from the pace of everyday life.

A little pocket of luxury in Leeds city centre

The setting is one of the things that makes Sound & Scent particularly special.

NEOM is already a space built around beautiful fragrance, wellbeing and everyday rituals, so bringing a Synergy sound bath into the store feels like a natural pairing.

The experience begins with a 40-minute sound bath surrounded by the scents and atmosphere of NEOM.

Once the sound bath ends, there is no need to immediately rush back into the outside world. Guests are invited to stay and enjoy an intimate private shopping experience after the store has closed to the public.

Each £25 Sound & Scent experience also includes £15 to spend in the NEOM store, allowing guests to choose something beautiful to take home with them and continue that little ritual of self-care beyond the evening itself.

Our collaboration with NEOM Leeds is a beautiful example of how sound healing can move beyond a traditional wellness setting.

By bringing together sound, scent and an intimate after-hours environment, we have been able to create an experience that feels luxurious while retaining the simplicity at the heart of a sound bath: giving yourself permission to stop.

Sound & Scent combines two sensory worlds that complement each other effortlessly, creating a pocket of calm in the middle of Leeds city centre and an experience that we are incredibly proud to offer as part of Synergy Body & Mind.
