Our Story

Synergy Body & Mind wasn’t born from calm beginnings.

Before this work existed, life was chaotic for both of us in very different ways. We lived colourful, complex lives shaped by instability, loss, survival, and experiences that force you to either harden or heal.

For Emma, everything shifted after the loss of her grandad. Grief became both a breaking point and a moment of clarity. It was then that she made a promise to herself: to leave behind what was harming her and choose a different path. That choice marked the beginning of a deep healing journey, starting with learning Reiki and slowly reconnecting to herself in a more grounded, intentional way.

Calum’s path was equally transformative. Having experienced homelessness as a teenager, he carries a deep understanding of survival, resilience, and what it means to feel unsafe in the world. His journey led him inward, reshaping his relationship with himself, his nervous system, and his sense of purpose.

We didn’t meet as people who had it all figured out.

We met as people who had chosen to wake up, heal, and live differently.

From that meeting point, Synergy began to take shape, not as a business plan, but as a response.

Why Water

There has always been something about flowing water that draws Emma in.

Some of her earliest memories are of being taken to places like the Strid at Bolton Abbey as a child, visiting with her grandad. Standing near powerful, moving water, feeling its presence, its unpredictability, its pull; left a deep impression long before she had words for why it mattered. Those moments were rooted in safety, connection, and being held within something bigger.

That connection never left.

As life unfolded, water continued to be a place of grounding and return. The sea became another anchor, vast, rhythmic, and regulating in a way that felt instinctive rather than learned.

At the very beginning of her healing journey, water became part of the process without conscious planning. One of the first acts of marking change and release was a full moon swim; stepping into cold, open water as a way of letting go and beginning again. Not long after, one of the earliest Moon Gatherings was held beside a river, guided by the same pull towards flowing water and natural rhythm.

Recently, while scrolling back through her camera roll, she came across something that stopped her in her tracks: a screenshot saved in 2022. It showed people floating together in water, with a Tibetan singing bowl placed at the centre.

At the time, Synergy didn’t exist.

She hadn’t trained in sound healing.
She hadn’t met Calum.

And yet, the image was there.

Seeing it again felt like a quiet moment of recognition; a reminder that this work wasn’t something consciously planned, but something that had been forming over time. A thread running through childhood memories, grief, healing, and the places where water had always played a role.

Water doesn’t just support the body - it holds it.

Sound doesn’t just fill the space - it moves through you.

Floating sound baths became the most natural expression of that knowing - bringing together sound, water, memory, and the body’s innate ability to settle, soften, and heal. That’s why water sits at the heart of everything we do.

Why We Created Synergy Body & Mind

At its core, Synergy Body & Mind was never about creating something exclusive or aspirational.

We simply wanted to create a space where people could come, slow down, and have a genuinely relaxing experience. A space to receive gentle healing, and, if they wanted to, to feel part of a community.

There’s no pressure to show up in a certain way.

No expectation to talk, share, or participate beyond what feels right.

Some people come purely to rest.

Others come for connection.

Both are equally welcome.

We believe healing doesn’t always need to be intense or transformational. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s simply being held in a space where nothing is required of you.

That’s the space we wanted to create; and the space we continue to protect.

Parenthood, Community & Shared Abundance

Becoming parents affirmed that what we’re building is the right thing, for us, for our children, and for the wider community around us.

As our floating sound bath events have grown, they’ve allowed us to create something even more meaningful alongside them: community-led spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and rooted in care. These are the events where rest is not treated as a luxury, but as something everyone deserves.

The success of our floating events enables us to offer Pay As You Feel sessions, community days, and spaces where people can come together without financial pressure. This is where the work feels most alive, where connection, gentleness, and shared humanity sit at the centre.

We also believe abundance should be shared.

Our team of helpers are an essential part of everything we do. Synergy isn’t built by two people alone, it’s held by many, and we’re committed to creating work that feels supportive, fairly valued, and sustainable.

This is the kind of ecosystem we want our children to grow up around: one rooted in care, collaboration, and community over competition.

Integrity, Energy & Inclusion

At the heart of everything we do is integrity.

We care deeply about protecting the integrity of sound healing and energy healing, not as trends, but as practices rooted in presence, intention, and respect. We believe that everything is energy, and that the spaces we create are shaped as much by how we show up as by the instruments we use.

The energy brought into a space matters.

That’s why we lead with care, intention, and inclusivity. We don’t believe healing should be exclusive, performative, or reserved for a certain type of person. We believe in welcoming people exactly as they are, especially in moments when they may need support the most.

There’s no expectation to arrive calm, open, or “high vibe”.

There’s simply an invitation to arrive.

We trust that when a space is held with integrity, the right people find it. Your vibe attracts your tribe, and ours is rooted in kindness, safety, and genuine connection.

This is the standard we protect, and the responsibility we carry, every time we hold space.
